William Francis Nighy is a Golden Globe and BAFTA award winning English actor for the stage, screen and TV. Nighy owns a cottage in Suffolk and his family has spent all their summers there. Nighy is the patron of the Suffolk High Tide Festival which celebrates new talent. Nighy has enjoyed international success after starting his career working in theatre and television before graduating to his first screen role in 1981. He is best known for his roles in Love Actually, Shaun of the Dead, Notes on a Scandal, Underworld and Pirates of the Caribbean. He has worked with director Stephen Poliakoff three times on The Lost Prince and Glorious 39, both of which filmed in the region, and Gideon’s daughter for which he won a Golden Globe.
