Ralph Fiennes was born in Ipswich in Suffolk. Fiennes trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and then went onto join the Royal Shakespeare Company. His stage and theatre work has brought substantial acclaim. Fiennes is known internationally from his appearance in two Best Picture winners from the 1990s Schindler's List and The English Patient. Fiennes was cast as Lord Volemort for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and has retained the role since. The Duchess, in which Fiennes plays the Duke of Devonshire opposite Keira Knightly as the Duchess of Devonshire, filmed on location in Norfolk and Bedfordshire.
