Stephen Frears is a two time Academy Award nominated English film director who was born and raised in Leicester and educated at Greshams School in Holt, Norfolk. Frears then went onto study law at Trinity College, Cambridge. Frears enjoyed critical success with The Grifters, for which he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Director. More recently, The Queen was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture and received much critical acclaim and was a great box office success.
