Steve Butterworth is a British producer who was brought up in St Albans, Hertfordshire along with his brothers Tom who is a writer and Jez who is also a writer and an actor. Much of the Butterworth's inspiration for the script of Birthday Girl came from their childhood memories of Hertfordshire.
