Barningham Hall

Printer friendly version >

Barningham Hall is a fine Jacobean mansion. Built in the 17th century, this 3 storey house is constructed of red brick and stone with mullioned windows. Additions were made to the house and grounds by Sir Humphry Repton in the 19th century. The house is not accessible to the public, but from time to time the grade II listed gardens and parkland is open to visitors. The pretty village of Matlaske with its brick and flint cottages is on the edge of the park and its church, Saint Peter's, has a round tower with an octagonal top. The area is perfect for cycling and walking.
