Printer friendly version >

Royston lies on the Hertfordshire/Cambridgeshire border surrounded by countryside. The town is situated where two Roman roads meet, the Icknield Way and Ermine Street. A former hunting base for King James 1 who built a hunting lodge in the town, today Royston is a small market town. There is a good selection of restaurants, pubs and individual shops. Royston Museum tells the story of the history of the town. Underneath the High Street you will discover the magical Royston Cave thought to have been used by the Knights Templar in the 13th century. The National Trust’s Wimpole Hall is about 6 miles from Royston. A number of private properties in the area have been used for filming purposes.
