Hare Street village near the historic town of Buntingford is home to The Beehive Pub and The Old Swan Tea Shop, a picturesque 15th Century Hall set in two acres of garden and orchard. Nearby Buntingford lies on the Roman Ermine Street and in the 18th and 19th centuries this was an important coaching town as it was located midway between London and Cambridge. The High Street contains many fine listed buildings, including St Peter's Church, the first brick built church in England, and the unique one-handed town clock. The River Rib runs through the town and is still home to kingfishers.
