Benington is a picturesque village surrounded by Hertfordshire countryside; it can trace its origins to the 8th century. Benington has been described by some as one of the most attractive villages in the county and continues to retain its strong farming connections despite its close proximity to the urban town of Stevenage. There are two churches one of which is St Peter’s which is situated on the village green. There is a primary school which dates back to 1873, two pubs (The Bell and The Lordship Arms) and Benington Lordship which is world reknowned for its beautiful gardens.
