Bhaktivedanta Manor is located in the historic village of Aldenham. The estate was first recorded in 1261 and in the 16th century a Tudor house was built on the site. This was demolished in 1884 and a mock-Tudor building was built in its place. In 1973 it was sold to George Harrison (the Beatles) who gifted the property to ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) and renamed “Bhaktivedanta Manor” after the Society’s founder. Open days are an integral part of the Manor which houses tranquil gardens and a magnificent shrine that has become a site of pilgrimage for thousands of people every year.
