Bovingdon Airfield was an operational airfield, but closed in 1972. Whilst it is not ordinarily accessible to the public other than on market or event days, it is available for hire. There is a large expanse of concrete runway over half a mile long which is ideal for vehicle testing and events such as stunt shows and firework displays. Most of the original buildings have been demolished, with the exception of the derelict control tower. The airfield is home to Bovingdon Market which takes place on Saturdays and Bank Holiday Mondays and Bovingdon Raceway, operated by Spedeworth.
