Printer friendly version >

Sitting at the mouth of the River Colne, between Colchester and Clacton-on-Sea, Brightlingsea is a major yachting centre with one of the best stretches of sailing on the East Coast and superb walks alongside the creek. The town has a museum, is home to one of England´s oldest timber-framed buildings, the 13th century Jacobes Hall and the Thorrington Tide Mill. There are lines of beach huts on Western Promenade, a skate park, swimming pool, boating lake and paddling pool. The sailing barge match is in September of each year.
