The Cambridge American Cemetery lies in 30.5 acres and was donated by the University of Cambridge. The cemetery lies on a slope with the west and south being attractively framed by woodland. It contains the remains of 3,812 military dead, most of whom died in the Battle of the Atlantic or in the air bombardment of northwest Europe. 5,127 names are recorded on the Tablets of the Missing and rosettes mark the names of those since recovered and identified. The cemetery is open to the public and there is a visitor building where staff are only too pleased to answer questions.
