Churchill College

Printer friendly version >

Churchill College received a Royal Charter in 1960. It is also the national and Commonwealth memorial to Sir Winston Churchill. The College occupies one of the largest of the Cambridge college sites at over forty acres and is close to the University's science, engineering and mathematics departments. Playing fields adjoin the spacious lawns and quiet courts of the College, whose buildings, whilst remaining faithful to the traditional collegiate pattern, were the first significant modern architecture in Cambridge University. According to their website, they are deemed by Pevsner as "the best of the new". Churchill College is not normally open to visitors.
