Comet Road is close to The Galleria, a small, bright modern shopping centre located over the top of the A1 in Hatfield. During the 1930s Hatfield became known for its links to the aviation industry with Mosquito and Trident aircraft being built there. However Hatfield's aerospace and military production history remains in name only through street and place names. The vacated premises and surrounding grounds have been used effectively as temporary film sets for the Band of Brothers and Saving Private Ryan. The site is now a state of the art business park and is home to the University of Hertfordshire. Hatfield Old Town and the magnificent Hatfield House are nearby. The history of Hatfield's aviation industry can be seen at the De Havilland Heritage Centre at London Colney about 8 miles from Hatfield.
