Whilst MOD land is not directly accessible to the public, Croxton Heath (within the Stanton Training Area) was used for scenes in Dad’s Army. Nearby Thetford Forest is however ideal for a wide range of activities. The forest is a patchwork of pines, heathland and broadleaves with a rich variety of animal and plant life. Whilst the forest offers peace and tranquillity, High Lodge is the venue where children can explore trails, use the play furniture and have fun on the large grass area. Refreshments are available in the oak framed building. The nearby historic town of Thetford with its links to Dad’s Army is also worth a visit.
