The 4* Edgwarebury Hotel and Restaurant is a character Tudor Style building steeped with history. Whilst the hotel has recently undergone a full refurbishment, many original features were retained with several pieces throughout the hotel being of considerable age including the front door, which was originally part of the dungeons in Lewis Castle. The entrance hall has an outstanding fireplace with Italian carved columns supporting the ornate mantelpiece. The decorative frieze paintings around the upper part of the reception lobby were executed by Sir Norman Little depicting scenes from the Spanish armada. It is understood that some of the wood was actually from ships involved. The wooden panel in the Beaufort room is believed to date back to the 1600’s and the fireplace overmantel features fine carving framing a medieval Spanish painting, produced on leather canvas. The Hotel is set in 10 acres of landscaped gardens and natural woodland, with views overlooking central London. Many television programs and films have featured the Edgwarebury Hotel, which has also entertained a number of famous celebrities, including Peter Sellers, Tom Cruise and John Cleese to mention a few. The 49 bedrooms have all been designed by the interior design company ‘Laura Ashley’ and offer double or twin beds, flat screen TV’s and a selection of Sky channels. The hotels relaxed atmosphere, terrace bar and award winning restaurant and beautiful grounds makes it an ideal choice for any leisure break.
