Epping Forest

Printer friendly version >
Epping Forest is a landscape of national and international conservation importance whilst providing the gateway between the hustle and bustle of London and the unique charm of the Essex countryside. Covering nearly 6,000 acres and stretching between Forest Gate in London and Epping in Essex, Epping Forest lies on a ridge between Rivers Lea and Roding valleys. It is approximately 18 km long (north-south), but no more than 4 km (east to west) wide. There are plenty of walks and the area contains a mix of grassland, heath, rivers, bogs and ponds and a visitor centre at Loughton.
