Essex Marshes (nr Maldon)

Printer friendly version >

Essex has one of the longest coastlines by comparison to other county. The Essex Marshes is not an exact place as there are marshlands running from the mouth of the River Thames in the south to the historic market town of Maldon and then on to Harwich on the Essex Suffolk border. The most expansive area lies to the north and east of the Maldon. Tollesbury in particular has a myriad of inlets and has become a popular boating area. Tollesbury also has its own marina and it is on the surrounding marshes that Golden Samphire can be found. The whole marshland is also popular with walkers, birdwatchers and local wildlife.
