West of Dunstable in Bedfordshire the Five Knolls are a group of seven barrows consisting of two bowl barrows, three bell barrows and two pond or saucer barrows located within the Dunstable and Whipsnade Downs within The Chilterns, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Over the years excavations have produced Neolithic (New Stone Age) and Bronze Age finds including pottery, cremations, animal bones, flints and arrowheads. The area is easily accessible and there are a number of walks and bridle paths.
