Flaunden is a small hamlet with some excellent country pubs, including The Bricklayers Arms and The Green Dragon. The hamlet is very rural being situated in the Chiltern Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is close to Bovingdon. Flaunden is often frequented by walkers given the peaceful rural footpaths and more demanding walks across open farmland and through steep wooded valleys. There are also numerous bridleways along with half-timbered and mellowed-brick buildings dotting the surrounding villages and winding lanes.
