The Galleria is a small, bright modern shopping centre located over the top of the A1 in Hatfield. During the 1930s Hatfield became known for its links to the aviation industry with Mosquito and Trident aircraft being built there. However Hatfield's aerospace and military production history remains in name only through street and place names. The vacated premises and surrounding grounds have been used effectively as temporary film sets for the Band of Brothers and Saving Private Ryan. As a new town, Hatfield has "new town" characteristics including trees and open spaces and is now home to the University of Hertfordshire. The village of old Hatfield and the magnificent Hatfield House are nearby.
