Gresham Village

Gresham is a small rather charming village about three miles south of Sheringham and located in rolling countryside in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It has been declared a Mecca for church explorers as the village is home to one of the best of the East Anglian seven sacrament octagonal fonts series at All Saints church, which is also 1 of 124 churches with a round tower in the county – another Norfolk characteristic. The remains of the 14th century Gresham Castle, a fortified house, which also had a watermill and a windmill, are on the south side of the village opposite the Chequers Pub. The moat and some of the castle ruins survive; it is thought to have been similar to nearby Baconsthorpe Castle.
