Happisburgh

Printer friendly version >

The lovely village Happisburgh is home to the iconic white with red banded Happisburgh Lighthouse, the oldest working light in East Anglia and the only independently run lighthouse in Great Britain. The other building which dominates the village is the large church with its tall tower. Both buildings are on mounds providing wonderful countryside and coastal views. The village lanes are lined with cottages, many of which flint and thatch. The sandy beach extends for miles with its cliff protection barrier designed to slow the rate of cliff erosion. There is a pub, small shop and tea-rooms.
