Printer friendly version >

The Horse and Groom is a traditional ‘local’ pub which has not altered much since the 1830s located in Old Hatfield close to Hatfield House, a fine Jacobean mansion in a spectacular countryside setting. Built by Robert Cecil the House has marvellous displays of pictures, furnishings and historic armour. The garden dates from the 17th century and include a scented garden, herb garden and knot garden. In the Park an oak tree marks the place where Princess Elizabeth heard of her accession to the throne.
