Hunstanton

Printer friendly version >

Hunstanton was formerly a Victorian seaside town which retains its Victorian character and remains popular with visitors, particularly families. There are traditional attractions such as donkey rides along the beach, a road train that takes visitors around the town, promenade gardens, a Sealife Centre, swimming pool and fun fair. The coastline is renowned for its unique red striped cliffs and stunning sunsets, made extra special by its position as the only west-facing resort on Norfolk’s east coast. The lighthouse has excellent views of the cliffs which illustrate Britain’s history over millions of years. The upper layer is chalk, below which is limestone, known as red chalk, and below that is carstone – the upper 2 layers have fossils so the beach has become a magnet for fossil hunters.
