Originally a medieval port, King’s Lynn is steeped in history and there are also plenty of places to stay, eat and drink. The town has retained its narrow Dickensian streets and handsome merchant houses popular for filming. It is home to the only surviving Hanseatic warehouse in the UK, and The Walks, King’s Lynn’s impressive parkland, has a Victorian bandstand with regular performances. By the river visitors can take a ferry to the west bank with its views of the townscape. There is also a Victorian-style cinema and the renowned King’s Lynn Festival, which celebrates a host of arts events around the town.
