Melton Constable Hall stands in 800 acres of woodland and park designed by Capability Brown in 1764-69. The Hall is not accessible to the public as it has been converted to residential housing, but it is understood the grounds and the church can be accessed by a driveway lined with Rhododendrons. Nearby Melton Constable with its terraced streets, the first of which was built in 1882, is more reminiscent of the railway towns of the industrial north of England and the midlands, than a village in rural Norfolk. The village was the purpose built hub of the Midland and Great Northern Railway and has experienced a revival in recent times.
