Now a luxury housing development, Napsbury is located on the site of the former Napsbury Hospital located in Shenley Lane in London Colney on the outskirts of the historic city of St Albans. Founded in 1898, it was originally an echelon-style mental asylum and was used as a military hospital during the First World War. Prior to demolishing the bulk of the hospital buildings, some of which have been converted into apartments, the site was used for filming purposes.
