The Purcell School is a boarding school for young musicians in Bushey, and is Britain's oldest specialist music school. Whilst not open to the public for tours the school gives over 150 performances a year some of which are free. Concerts range from daily lunchtime performances to full-length instrumental evening concerts. There are also performances by composers, jazz and music technology students as well as orchestral and choral concerts. Large scale concerts occur in the 250-seat Constance Pilkington Hall. There is also a state-of-the-art music centre with a 100-seat recital hall complete with recording facilities.
