Work began on the present Rainthorpe Manor in 1503. Over the generations there have been substantial alterations and additions. It is now a half-timbered Tudor manor house built in an E-shape favoured in Queen Elizabeth's I’s reign. Whilst privately owned, the grounds are opened to the public from time to time. The Hall is also a popular wedding venue. From the driveway visitors can see its towering chimneys and large leaded windows. The gardens are beautifully kept with lawns running down to the river, clipped yew hedges and an Elizabethan knot-garden.
