Printer friendly version >

The village of Shenley is mentioned in the Domesday Book and its Anglo-Saxon name means ‘fair or bright clearing or wood’. Shenley is home to the prestigious Shenley Cricket Centre with its beautiful 19th Century Pavilion. There are many lovely walks from the village including one from The White Horse pub through fields, meadows and alongside woodland to Ridge, which has The Old Guinea pub, and back to Shenley through wilderness and fields. Ridge has a fascinating church with a 15th century fresco and furniture by the Mouse Man of Kilburn, Yorkshire. The church is open on Sundays afternoons July to September and serves afternoon tea.
