Southend Pier

Printer friendly version >

Southend Pier is the town's historical icon as well as being the longest pleasure pier in the world. Its glorious 1.33 miles literally puts Southend on the map as well as into the record books. Built in 1830, the Pier has lived through fires, boat crashes, two world wars and economic decline, as well as braving the elements of Mother Nature. At the Pier Head is a lifeboat station, a gift shop and sundeck with light refreshments. A permanent walkway allows visitors and fishermen to access the Pier Head. Alternatively, you can catch the popular Pier Train!
