Southwold Beach

Printer friendly version >

Southwold’s acclaimed 'Blue Flag' winning beaches with their golden sands prove exquisite summer relaxation or long walks all the year round. Southwold Pier Pavilion built in 1901 still receives visits from Britain's only surviving sea-going steam passenger ship. The Promenade provides ample walking for those not wishing to stroll on the beach whilst also offering protection from the sea. Southwold beach housed high wheeled bathing machines in the early 1900's and even today the beach is well known for its colourful array of beach huts. The beach is a short distance from the town centre and harbour area.
