St Albans secured its first market charter in 1553. Today’s market has 160 stalls lining the city’s high street on Wednesdays and Saturdays. There are so many bargains, the national chain stores can find it hard to compete! St Albans City Centre Farmers Market runs every 2nd Sunday of the month, is a hive of activity and has around 60 stalls. St Albans is a heritage city with a magnificent cathedral, historic churches, museums, coaching inns and specialist shopping. There are two small shopping centres, plenty of places to stay and the city hosts numerous events and festivals throughout the year.
