St Albans City station is served by both first Capital Connect and Thameslink trains and runs between Bedford and King's Cross in London and then on to Brighton. St Albans City is one of two railway stations in St Albans and the larger of the two stations. It is 0.5 miles from the city centre, and was built by the Midland Railway in 1868. Formerly, St Albans was famous for producing watercress which was sent in 56 pound lots to London and Manchester! East Midlands intercity services from Leeds, Sheffield and Leicester do not stop.
