The picturesque St Etheldreda Church is Old Hatfield's parish church. The present building dates from the 13th century, although little remains of its mediaeval origins. In the 15th century Cardinal Morton had the Tower constructed; the Brocket Chapel and the Salisbury Chapel were built later. The building, although steeped in history, is not a museum and has a thriving Christian congregation. The church is open to visitors when Hatfield House is open.
