Strangers’ Hall was formerly the home of wealthy merchants and Mayors, and dates back to 1320. The building has been beautifully restored in recent times. Features not to be missed include the magnificent stone-vaulted undercroft, the Tudor Great Hall and the fine Georgian Dining Room. There is a maze of passages allowing visitors the opportunity to discover the inter-linked rooms with their period settings showing how people lived in the past. The kitchen has splendid displays of food and household implements, and there are delightful collections of historic toys and a cellar full of colourful shop signs.
