Theydon Mount

Printer friendly version >

Theydon Mount is the most easterly of the three Theydon parishes 3 miles from Epping and 15 miles from London. The second part of its name is derived from the hill near its centre upon which stands St Michael’s Church and Hill Hall. The church built in 1614 by Sir William Smith was consecrated by John King, Bishop of London. Visitors to the area will find nearby Epping has many charms including its Monday market, St John’s Church whose tower can be seen for miles and whose organ is considered among the finest in Essex; there is also the famous Epping sausage at Church Ltd, which has been trading since 1888!
