Watford Town Hall is home to the Watford Borough Council and also houses The Colosseum, a large events venue. The present building was opened in 1940 and designed for multiple purpose. Due to its world renowned acoustic qualities, The Colosseum was used to record the soundtracks for the Lord of the Rings, the Sound of Music, The Star Wars Trilogies and Sleepy Hollow. In the past is has often hosted world famous performers such as The Who, Robbie Williams and Oasis. Regrettably it has recently experienced funding difficulties so its fate is under review by the council. Meanwhile The Colosseum is still available for bookings.
