The foundation of Watford Technical College in 1947 ultimately led to the foundation of West Herts College in 1991. Since then the establishment has continued to expand and amalgamated with other local educational establishments during that process. There are now four campuses all of which have their own character and set of unique facilities. Each campus has from time to time appeared as a filming location. The college has been very enterprising during the period of expansion and used empty buildings to earn the college valuable revenue to improve its facilities. The Watford campus is very close to the town centre and the Town Hall. The establishment is not open to the public other than for students and those interested in studying at the college.
