Whippendell Wood is an ancient patch of woodland which once formed part of the Cassiobury Estate and is now open for recreational enjoyment. The woodland is designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest due to the richness of its birdlife, including tawny owl and sparrow hawk, wildlife species and plant life; the area is home to over 270 species of plants. There are a variety of walks for people to enjoy through delightful woodland areas and open glades.
