The 'Capital of the Fens' - this busy market town grew up around its port, trading from medieval times. The tidal River Nene runs through the centre spanned by two bridges. After the Fen drainage, it became a wealthy agricultural centre, evident today in some of the finest Georgian street architecture in Britain (such as The Brinks, The Crescent and Museum Square). There are a number of attractions including Elgood’s Brewery, Wisbech & Fenland Museum, the National Trust’s, Peckover House and the Octavia Hill Birthplace House. There is also an annual Rose Fair and Flower Festival.
