The award winning 28 weeks Later was shot largely on location in London and the story centres on the city. During the initial outbreak Don (Robert Carlyle), his wife Alice (Catherine McCormick) and a few survivors hid in the countryside close to London. When the farmhouse they are in is attacked by infected people, Don panics and leaves Alice trapped alone in the house. Six months later after the rage virus has all but decimated the UK, the US army restores order and helps to repopulate a quarantined area of London. Don’s children, Tammy (Immogen Poots) and Andy (Mackintosh Muggleton) travel back from Spain and are re-united with their father but missing their mother they travel back to old house to retrieve any family memorabilia that may still be there. However, they find Alice alive and the Army brings her to the base only to discover that she has not only developed immunity to the virus, but is in actual fact a lethal carrier. As a result of her coming back into contact with Don a new outbreak ensues.
