Oscar, Golden Globe and BAFTA nominated About a Boy was directed by Chris and Paul Weitz. Based loosely on the novel by Nick Hornby of the same name, this romantic comedy was adapted for the screen by Peter Hedges. Will Freeman (Hugh Grant) is a committed bachelor who suddenly finds himself surrounded by married friends with responsibilities and therefore all alone. In order to meet a lady friend he decides to pretend to be a single parent to meet single parent mums, but he does not have commitment on his mind. He subsequently meets Marcus (Nicholas Hoult), a 12 year old very non-cool young man who is struggling to fit in at school. This unlikely pair form a bond and ultimately become friends setting in motion a ‘coming of age’ for both of them. Rachel Weisz plays Rachel.
