Based on the novel by Robert Penn Warren, which won the Pulitzer Prize in 1947, this BAFTA nominated feature length television adaptation was produced by Director, Julian Jarrold in 1999. It tells the mysterious story of the Sandringham company which disappeared in action in 1915 at Gallipoli. It stars David Jason as Captain Frank Beck and Maggie Smith as Queen Alexandra.
