The story is based on the novel by Helen Fielding of the same name and chronicals a year in the life of a 30 something, Bridget Jones who is perpetually challenged to lose weight, give up her various vices and find the love of her life only to find herself attracted to the charming if somewhat unsuitable, Daniel Cleaver (Hugh Grant). As the story unfolds, Bridget realises she is attracted to Mark Darcy (Colin Firth), a serious minded civil rights lawyer who she has known all her life but it seems her attempts to win him over are forever thwarted ... or are they? The film was shot in and around greater London but also used locations in the East of England:

    Having secured his new job in the US, Mark arrives at New York's JKF airport only to realise he has actually left something rahter important behind ... but what? After a little dressing Stansted doubles perfectly for JFK both in terms of interiors and exteriors.

  • Wrotham Park, Barnet >
    Whilst available for conferences and weddings, this house is not accessible to the public. Wrotham Park is transformed into the Darcy family home when Bridget and her parents are invited to a party. They approach the family home up a driveway and on arrival Bridget tries to tell Mark how she feels. Mark's parents however have an announcement of their own - Mark is to go to New York along with Natasha. A shocked Bridget finds herself making an impromptu speech that perhaps, unsurprisingly, holds the audience completely captivated.
