This BAFTA award-winning adaptation by Hugh Whitemore for a television mini-series is based on the 12 novel sequence by Anthony Powell of the same name and screened on Channel 4. The stories revolve around Nicolas Jenkins’ (James Purefoy) reminiscences and English political, cultural and military life in the mid 20th century.
