Based at the former MGM British Studios in Borehamwood, which are no longer there, this popular black and white television series which ran for 4 seasons was broadcast from 1960-62 and then again from 1964-68. John Drake (Patrick McGoohan) is a special security operative for NATO who battles with forces that threaten international security. Each episode had roles for guest stars many of whom ultimately starred in their own shows following an appearance in Danger Man such as Paul John Le Messurier (Dad’s Army). Danger Man strove for realism in its plots and was created by Ralph Smart who ‘allegedly’ fired John Schlesinger when he was 2nd unit director on the pilot for the quality of his work; John Schlesinger was to become an acclaimed film and stage director.
