This 2002 television adaptation is based on the novel by George Elliot of the same name and was directed by Tom Hooper. Rather than taking place during the American Civil War when the novel is set this adaptation is actually set ten years later in 1874. It is a complex love story between members of Victorian gentility and starred Hugh Dancy (Daniel Deronda), Romola Garai (Gwendolen Harleth) and Hugh Bonneville (Henleigh Grandcourt).
