Directed by David Dobkin this Christmas comedy picture was released in time for the Christmas festivities. Based on a story by Jessie Nelson with screenplay from Dan Fogelman, Fred Claus told the tale of Frederick (Fred) Claus (Vince Vaughn), the angry older brother of Santa Claus (Paul Giamatti) who is forced to returned to his hometown in the North Pole, causes havoc and nearly ruins Christmas. Miranda Richardson played Mrs Annette Claus, Kathy Bates played Mother Claus, Rachel Weisz played Wanda Blinkowski and Kevin Spacey took the role of Clyde Northcutt. It was unfortunately not well received by critics and whilst it seems unlikely it will become a Christmas classic some audiences felt it was nice seasonal holiday picture.
